Monroe Community Ambulance (MCA) began operations at noon today, taking over 9-1-1 responsibilities from ProMedica Mobile and Huron Valley Ambulance.  ProMedica Mobile had been providing coverage on an emergency basis since April, 2006 in the south half of the county, and HVA had been providing similar coverage since July.

MCA is now providing emergency paramedic ambulance coverage to the entire county (with the exception of the City of Monroe) from four stations, which are located in Dundee, in Ash Township near Carleton, in Monroe Township near M-50 and Telegraph, and in Bedford Township.  A fifth paramedic ambulance is provided on a 12-hour/7-day basis and is generally assigned to Frenchtown Township.

MCA's five ambulances are backed up by the resources of its parent organizations.  LifeStar Ambulance and ProMedica provide paramedic ambulance service just south of the county line in Toledo and Sylvania, Ohio.  These units are often brought up into the south part of Monroe County during peak call situations.  Likewise, Huron Valley Ambulance provides back up support from stations in Lenawee, Washtenaw and Wayne County.

MCA's Central Support Facility is on Seventh Street at Telegraph, close to the border of both Frenchtown and Monroe Townships.  The ambulance service owns six ambulances.

Residents who experience or witness medical emergencies are encouraged to call the Monroe County central dispatch center by dialing 9-1-1.  Your emergency call will be forwarded to MCA and the closest fire station will also be dispatched.  For non-emergency ambulance requests in Monroe County, you can call MCA directly at 734-242-5510 or call toll free at 1-877-800-3222.
